Holmdale
House Garden and Nursery is set in an acre of land, half of
which consists of the garden which was begun in 2000, and
surrounds the Victorian farmhouse and its barns. Informal
mixed borders are planted to reflect the owners' interest in unusual
hardy plants and shrubs, especially variegated forms.
At Holmdale, we grow a wide range of plants, mostly hardy herbaceous
perennials, but a few more unusual annuals/biennials as well as
some less common shrubs and trees.
Our especial passion is plants with interesting foliage, particularly
if that interest is created by variegation. We are long standing
members of the Hardy Plant Society, as well as of its sub-group:
the Variegated Plant Group whose magazine, 'The Sport', we have
edited and produced for the last five years. This involvement
has resulted in our acquisition of a very interesting range of
plants, some of which are not often seen, nor freely available
elsewhere.
