Welcome to Martin Royal Oak Pub

Tony and Denise would like to welcome you to The Royal Oak, Martin. A pub that has a welcome atmosphere where strangers are new friends and will feel like locals.
The pub has a large and tastefully decorated lounge bar, and a smaller traditional bar area where a pool table and darts board are situated. It is open lunchtimes 12 noon to 2pm Tuesday to Saturday. 7pm to 11pm Monday to Saturday and 12 noon to 2.30pm, 7pm to 10.30pm Sundays.

The Oak' is not a restaurant, nor a fast food outlet, we are a local pub which provides good homemade food. Try Denise’s home made pies, stews, chilies, curries and not forgetting fresh Grimsby fish and Sunday Roasts. All our meat and vegetables are fresh and usually local grown. We don’t do frozen – correction – we do – peas! We also provide some Irish fare and a drop of poteen.

'The Oaks’ philosophy means that 'The Oak' remains a pub that does food. We don't aim to be a restaurant; this enables us to cater for small parties and gatherings in an informal atmosphere and to be flexible in meeting customers' needs quite easily, at anytime. Therefore if you have a smallish group that wants to meet 'The Oak' is the place. If you want refreshments laid on, let us know and it shall be done. For example, a buffet for a customer's wedding reception was recently a success and at the other end of the scale, a family recently bereaved, were also able to find a convenient focal point to meet after the funeral, with refreshments laid on.

'The Oak' is a free house, the 'session beer' being John Smith's cask, with Smith's keg bitter, draught Guinness, Kronenbourgh premium lager and Foster's on offer. There is also a guest ale on offer each week from breweries around the country.

With the large log fire in the lounge 'The Oak' has a cozy atmosphere where small groups can meet to discuss whatever businesses or common interest they may share and Tony and Denise are happy to put aside a few tables if a little more privacy is required.

The local village pub is one of the last remaining focal points for village social life. It is to that end that 'The Oak' is pleased to welcome the local Pool, Darts and dominoes team giving a vibrancy to the place on weekday evenings, and also hosts a charity quiz on the second Sunday of every month, with the money raised for LIVES, our local first responders.

There remains plenty of scope to build on the local pub as a social centre and Tony and Denise would be pleased to hear from anyone that would like to use the amenity that exists. In particular, is there are any budding 'folk' musicians out there who want a place to develop their art, or a pub pianist with nowhere to go, let Tony or Denise know and come and have a talk about it.

So, whether visitor or local, 'The Oak' would be pleased to welcome you.

Remember, we serve the best pub food in Martin!
