Welcome to Martin Village Hall

Martin Village HallThe Village Hall at Martin was built as a Methodist Chapel in 1860 and, after a spell when it was unoccupied and then used for agricultural storage until the early 1950s when it became the Village Hall.

In recent years the hall has been run and maintained by an enthusiastic committee who have invested a lot of money in improvements. Much of the money has come from organizations such as Wren, Lincolnshire County Council, North Kesteven District Council, Lloyds/TSB as well as money which the Village Hall has raised.

Improvements incorporated in recent years include completely new windows to the front of the hall, refurbishments to the kitchen, insulation of the roof, a new central heating boiler plus the installation of a dedicated purpose designed toilet for the use of disabled people, a hearing loop for the hearing impaired (with hearing aids) and a sound amplification system (but a disco needs its own amplifiers) with walls and doors painted contrasting colours for the sight impaired. An access ramp has also been built at the main entrance doors of the hall for those confined to wheelchairs.

Additionally, the Village Hall has recently been notified that the County Council and District Council have awarded the hall £4,500 for repairs to the windows to the rear of the building and for the fitting of new curtains to all of the windows.

The building is regularly used for dances, with a modern, inlaid wooden floor; for bingo; for childrens' discos; for keep fit/slimming classes; badminton practice and is available at very reasonable rates for hire.
