Martin & Timberland Bin Collection Dates

From the 20th April 2009 there will be several changes to the refuse/recycling collection service that you receive. Some households will be changing day, some changing bin combinations, with others changing both bin combination and day. There are however, a very small number of households that will see no changes. It is therefore important that you are aware of what changes will affect you.
But why make the changes?
The existing refuse/recycling routes have been in operation since the 1980's. Since then much of the district has grown with the additional new developments being absorbed into the existing routes. This has created an imbalance of the routes.
Additionally, the Council is conscious of its carbon footprint and the review has given the opportunity to optimise the efficiency of the routes, reducing its consumption of fuel, and reduce the cost of the service.
Garden Waste
Since the introduction of the brown wheeled bin for garden waste we have noticed that during the winter months the number of brown wheeled bins put out for collection reduces dramatically.
So from November 2009 brown wheeled bins will be emptied once every 4 weeks in the winter months (November to February). Our figures show that there is little garden waste collected during the winter months but we are still driving the same number of miles, using the same amount of diesel.
